BOTH drivers in Rt. 51 crash cited for DUI

Illinois State Police at Du Quoin say BOTH drivers in a Monday night truck crash north of Du Quoin were cited for DUI.

Information officer Christopher Watson provided Wednesday details of the 8:20 p.m. rollover accident at the intersection of Rt. 51 and Rt. 154 (Sunfield wye).

According to the investigation a 2008 Dodge Ram quad cab pickup truck driven by James Sanchez, 45, of West Frankfort was eastbound on Rt. 154 and was stopped at the stop sign. After leaving the stop his truck was broadsided by a red 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Richard Bochantin, 60, of DuBois who ran through his stop sign northbound on Rt. 51. The impact rolled the larger Dodge truck, which wound up on the northeast corner of the four-way intersection. Neither the drivers nor a passenger in the Chevrolet, Michelle Mclaskey, 52, of West Frankfort were injured. Both drivers were arrested for DUI. Bochantin was also cited for disobeying a stop sign and driving without insurance.
