GOLF: Lady Panthers split, PCHS boys third at Monday's tri-matches in Herrin

The Lady Panthers split Monday's tri-match at Herrin, shooting 178 as a team to finish second behind Massac County (168) and ahead of the third-place Lady Tigers (186). Herrin's Macey Mooneyham shot a 36 to take the medalist award.

Pinckneyville had five girls golfers shoot in the 40's - Sarah Breslin (42), Ellie Carlson (43), Megan Breslin (44), Gracie McDaniel (49) and Taylor Wildermuth (49). Trista Ogilvie (50) and Erica Crews (54) also took part in the match for PCHS.

In boys action, Grant Thompson and Kyle Luke both shot in the 40's for Pinckneyville with a 46 and a 48 respectively, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers' team score of 203 placed them third behind Benton (161) and Herrin (185). The Rangers' Connor Poffinbarger claimed medalist honors with his round of 38.

Other PCHS boys competing included Hunter Clark (54), Justin Keller (55), Tyler Restoff (57), Blaine Schubert (59), Luke Silbe (60) and Mason Hopp (74).

Both the PCHS girls (9-3) and boys (2-7) will play at Okawville this Saturday.
