Middle School Softball: Harrisburg wins third straight
The Harrisburg Middle School softball team tacked on their third straight victory, knocking off Galatia 15-2 Thursday afternoon.
With the win, Harrisburg improves to 8-1 overall and are 2-0 in conference play.
"I'm very happy with our start to the season," HMS head coach Jake Stewart said. "We are looking forward to a big weekend ahead of us at the Carmi tournament on Saturday."
Against Galatia, Lydia Miller, Lexi Williams, Mya King and Hannah Reid all had two hits. Essence Sanders and Lauryn Gribble both had one hit.
Sanders picked up the win in the circle, going two innings, striking out four and walking two, while not giving up a hit.
Kerrigan Payne finished the last three innings, allowing two hits and one run, while striking out four and walking one.
Harrisburg plays Flora at 9 a.m. and Du Quoin at 11:30 a.m. in pool play and will then cross over and play either Carmi, Murphysboro or Fairfield in the single elimination round Saturday at Carmi.
