GOLF: Panthers come up short against Nashville, Trico
Three days into the new fall high school golf season, Pinckneyville's boys have stayed busy on the course with three matches, but will still be seeking their first victory entering Friday's home opener at Red Hawk Golf Course.
On Wednesday, the Panthers were third in a tri-match at Nashville with the Hornets taking the win with a score of 169. Trico placed in the middle with a 186, comfortably ahead of PCHS's 207. Nashville's Tyler Wall earned medalist honors with his nine-hole total of 38 strokes. Teammate Riley Edwards was second with a score of 40.
Kyle Luke paced the Panthers with a 47.
Blaine Schubert and Tyler Restoff were four shots behind Luke at 51. Grant Thompson (54), Hunter Clark (55), Justin Keller (56) and Mason Hopp (62) rounded out the scoring for Pinckneyville.
Ryan Naile led the Pioneers, shooting a 41.
The Panthers (0-4) welcome Du Quoin, Herrin and Waltonville to Red Hawk this Friday for a 4:00 p.m. start. PCHS travels to Herrin on Monday to take on the Tigers again, along with Goreville and Benton.
