Today's News: Our Take - Pilot Season: Rainn Wilson Lands Lead in CBS Drama from Bones Creator

Rainn Wilson has signed on for his first post-Office gig. The actor has landed the title role in CBS' drama pilot Backstrom, TVGuide.com has learned.

The pilot is based on a Swedish book series about an overweight, offensive, irascible detective who tries and fails to change his self-destructive behavior. Dennis Haysbert will co-star as another detective opposite Wilson.

Creator Hart Hanson appears to be thrilled about the casting. "We got our Backstrom! And wow, he's a corker!" the Bones creator tweeted Sunday.
