Fund-raiser in Du Quoin April 13 for accident victim Amber Rucks
A fund-raiser will be held at the Du Quoin American Legion to raise money for Amber Rucks, the mother of two young children who lost their lives in an automobile accident last week.
Rucks remains in a St. Louis hospital in critical condition. Friends at the Pinckneyville McDonald's restaurant where Amber works say she is slightly responsive, making faint movements when she hears their voices on a speaker phone.
The fund-raiser will be held Saturday, April 13, beginning at 5 p.m. Adult tickets are $10 each and children $5 for barbecue sandwiches and sides. There will also be a silent auction. Organizers are currently accepting silent auction items.
There will also be bands, playing beginning at 7 p.m. The bands include We Got it Covered, Chris Sloan, Drew Baldridge and Jennifer Thompson.
In addition, there will be a 50/50 drawing and a raffle.
"We are going all out to help this family," said Angela Wildermuth, one of the organizers of the fund-raiser. "The food, music, and other things we have going on throughout the evening will be exceptional. Most of all, we want to pull together as a community to give our best effort to help a grieving family that has so much need right now."
