Ben Affleck Wins Directors Guild Award for Argo
Weeks after being snubbed for an Oscar nomination for directing Argo , Ben Affleck took home the top prize at the Directors Guild Awards Saturday, beating out Kathryn Bigelow ( Zero Dark Thirty ), Tom Hooper ( Les Miserables ), Ang Lee ( Life of Pi ) and Steven Spielberg ( Lincoln ).
Coupled with Argo winning Best Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last weekend, it's now considered the front-runner to win Best Picture at the Oscars on Feb. 24.
Awards Season: Red carpet hits and misses
Other winners at Saturday's DGA Awards included Jay Roach, for directing HBO's Game Change , and Glenn Weiss for helming last year's Tony Awards. The award for TV Dramatic Series went to Breaking Bad 's Rian Johnson for the episode "Fifty-One," and Lena Dunham won the award for TV Comedy, for the pilot episode of Girls .
