Kelly Rutherford Files for Bankruptcy
Actress Kelly Rutherford has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the wake of a recent divorce and child custody battle, TMZ reports.
The Gossip Girl alum claims to have assets totaling nearly $24,000 - including cash, jewelry, clothes and furniture - but faces more than $2 million in debts, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Rutherford spent $1.5 million on legal fees in the wake of her 2010 divorce from and subsequent custody battle with ex-husband Daniel Giersch. (The couple has two children.) In addition, she owes $350,000 in income tax for 2012 and has more than $25,000 of credit card debt, TMZ reports.
For the final season of Gossip Girl, Rutherford's salary was reportedly $486,000. Now, according to TMZ, her monthly income is $1,279.33.
