OBITUARY: Roy E. Lane

Roy E. Lane, age 73 of Ridgway, died on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado after an extended illness.

Roy was born in Old Shawneetown on June 9, 1940, to the late Willie and Mae (Blakley) Lane. Roy had worked his entire life as a mechanic. He was married to Nina (Reeder) Lane who preceded him in death in 2012. Roy loved the outdoors and was a really good fisherman on the river. He always enjoyed visiting and being around his friends. Roy was a member of the Church of God. He will be missed.

Roy is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Sauls of Shawneetown, Marlene (Teddy) Moore of Shawneetown, Tina (Ray) Wright of Sturgis, Ky., and Jeannie (Frank) O'Neal of Ridgway; three stepdaughters, Rosalie Jackson and Debbie McCarty, both of Junction, and Marilyn (Russell) Martin of Texas; two brothers, Bill (Pat) Lane of Cave-In-Rock and Mack (Debbie) Lane of Eldorado; two sisters, Melva Chapman of Ridgway and Ellen Darter of Marion; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dot Winters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina; a son, Kenneth Lane; two brothers, John and Larry Lane; and sisters, Betty Kerley, Della Price and Lillie Lane.

Visitation for Roy will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. His funeral will immediately follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Lyndal Sork officiating.

Interment will follow at the Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
