Pearl Abney

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pearl Abney, 92, of Harrisburg, passed away 8:35 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born May 26, 1917, in Pope County, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah West Bryan. On Sept. 22, 1940 she married Elbridge Abney and he preceded her in death May 10, 1947.

Pearl was a sales clerk for many years at Rainbow's Drug Store. She was a member of Bankston Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Abney of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Ginger and husband Joshua Easton, Baltimore, Md. and Jared and Midi Abney, Harrisburg; one great-grandchild, Cole Abney; and two sisters-in-law, Edna Abney of Harrisburg and Mary Bryan of Carrier Mills.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther and Joe C. Bryan; and three sisters, Maude McNew, Myrna McNew and Ruth Buckner.

Graveside services will precede burial at Bankston Fork Cemetery 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, with the Rev. Mark Hutson officiating. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral in Harrisburg. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Bankston Fork Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
