OBITUARY: James Dale "J.D." Cullison

James Dale "J.D" Cullison of Rosiclare died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, in the Flanagan Nursing and Rehab in Flanagan.

J.D. was born in Rosiclare on July 13, 1922, to the late James Otto and Pearl (Frailey) Cullison. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a proud 52 year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1144 out of Rosiclare and a member of the Eddyville VFW. He was a protestant by faith. J.D. operated Heavy Equipment most of his life. He was a very kind and gentle person. He loved to fish, travel and tell stories of his childhood and always had a smile for you. J.D. will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by three grandchildren, Janette Bennett of Cornell, Jamie Cullison and Janice Cullison, both of Flanagan; his stepson and wife, Ron and Linda Garrett of Brighton, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Ray Cullison; four brothers; and a sister, Juanita Smock.

Visitation for J.D. will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at the Mt. Zion Church located on state Route 1 north of Cave-In-Rock. Masonic rites will be performed for J.D. at 6:30 p.m. His funeral will be at the church 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery with military rites by the Eddyville VFW.
