Group to carry full-sized cross Good Friday, March 29

In observance of Good Friday on March 29, a group of marchers from area churches will carry a life-sized cross two and a half miles from the Kroger parking lot to the Spirit of Life Christian Church at 720 North Hickory Street in Du Quoin. The procession will begin at 6 p.m. This is a community event and anyone interested in participating in this parade is welcome to join them at Kroger or along the route. Participants will be returned to their cars at Kroger.

A 7 p.m. service to follow will be a time of reflecting o what Jesus did for each of us when He went to the cross. As the cross arrives at the service the church's anointed worship team will lead those attending in a service of praise and worship. Solo music will be part of the service as well as special messages and scripture. No Good Friday service would be complete without a communion service observing the "Last Supper" or Lord's Supper when Jesus ate for the last time with his beloved disciples prior to His crucifixion. Communion is open to all followers of Jesus.
