Donald Grant Barney
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Donald Grant Barney, 82, a loving husband father and friend of Galatia, passed away Monday morning, Oct. 13, 2008.
He was born June 17, 1926 in Idmon, Idaho, to Isaac Rufas Barney and Hattie Ruth (Angus) Barney. He is married to Sandra Faye (West) Barney, who still survives in Galatia.
He retired from Kerr McGee Coal Mine in Galatia. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Eldorado.
He is survived by one son, Bob Hamilton of Idaho; two daughters, Donna (Mark) Bowlby of Eldorado and Susan (Jonathan) Russell of Harrisburg; four stepsons, Robert Bussard of Arizona, John Bussard of Colorado, Wallace Russell of Marion and James Russell of Galatia; three stepdaughters, Mary Ann Mithani of Texas, Pamelia Sterns of Pamona and Tammy Bear of Texas; one twin sister, Donna Grace Foster of Idaho; 30 grand- and step grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; first wife, Opal Jewell (Haught) Barney; stepson, Edward Bussard; three grandchildren; three sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society and the American Lung Society.
