Susan 'Cathy' Nave

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mrs. Susan "Cathy" Nave, 81, of Sharon Towers in Charlotte, N.C., died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008.

She was born in Harrisburg, on April 17, 1927, daughter of the late Alex and Olive Potts Parkinson.

Mrs. Nave loved the medical field and helping others, which led her to go work for a blood bank at a young age. She spent 27 years with Snap-on Tools before she retired. Following retirement in 1978, she and her husband moved to North Carolina. At 60 years of age, Mrs. Nave went back to school to earn her degree in medical records.

Mrs. Nave especially loved her family, friends, music and church. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she worshipped for many years and received a nickname, "The Kissing Bandit." She is thankful for friends and family who visited and loved her, especially her granddaughter Christine Furr, who cared for her during the last years of her life. The family would like to thank the staff and her many friends at Sharon Towers for helping make the last years of her life fulfilling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barnel Farrell Nave; her sister, Alli Mae Graham; and a brother, Nicholas Parkinson. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Crites and her husband, Bill of Concord, N.C., and Anita Milligan of Concord, N.C.; son, Ricky Milligan; 12 grandchildren, Glenna Green and husband, Brian of Buena Vista, Va., Jason Turner and wife, Missy of Oglesby, Sarah Crites, Cathy Crites, and Michelle Gonzalez and her husband, Roger of Concord, N.C, Charles Shuck of Kiwani, Sandra Milligan, Rebecca Milligan, Michael Milligan and Laura Milligan of Illinois; 17 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A gathering of friends to celebrate Mrs. Nave's life was held 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at Southside Baptist Church, 301 Elmhurst Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28209. Interment will take place 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, in Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Harrisburg.
