Three injury accidents blamed on deer

Saline County Sheriff's Deputies have handled three injury accidents believed to have been caused by deer in roads in recent days.

The first occurred 9:52 p.m. Saturday at state Route 34 75 feet south of DeNeal Road in Rudement.

Cory M. Bragdon, 26, Elizabethtown, was driving a Volkswagon Beetle north on state Route 34 and told deputies a deer entered the roadway, he swerved and wrecked into a ditch, according to the Saline County Sheriff's Office accident report.

He was taken by ambulance to Harrisburg Medical Center. He was cited on charges of improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and DUI. He was given a notice to appear.

The other two accidents involved vehicles striking trees.

Jamie L. Butler, 38, Harrisburg, was driving a Ford F-150 on Ingram Hill Road 1/4 mile west of Ben Road 9:27 p.m. Tuesday and stated a deer ran onto the roadway, according to a sheriff's accident report.

Butler swerved slightly to the south and struck some loose gravel on the road, swerved to the north, lost control and drove off the road to the south, striking a tree. Both Butler and passenger, Colton Faughn, 26, Eldorado, were taken to Harrisburg Medical Center by ambulance.

The third accident happened 1:28 a.m. Wednesday involving Jerod D. Tucker, 19, Galatia.

He was driving a Dodge Caravan north on Harco Road and about .5 miles south of Mount Moriah Road and reported a deer ran into his path, he tried to avoid it, lost control and drove off the road to strike trees and brush, according to the sheriff's report.

He was transported to Harrisburg Medical Center.
