Fred Wilburn Heathman

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Fred Wilburn Heathman, 87, of Jennings, Mo., formerly of the Galatia area, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, in Jennings, Mo.

He was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Galatia to the late John and Caldonia (Barker) Heathman.

Fred was a very humble, decorated Army veteran who saw combat across the Pacific Islands in World War II, and fought for our country again in Korea.

Fred was preceded in death by Ethel (Weiss), his beloved wife of 44 years. He was also a brother to the late Jack and Bluford Heathman.

Another member of the Greatest Generation has passed quietly on. We thank you for them, Lord.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Durham Cemetery at Galatia.
