Carrier Mills FD to host annual BBQ sale

The Carrier Mills Fire Department is holding its annual Barbecue Boston Butt sale on Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22. The annual event is part of the all-volunteer fire department's fundraising efforts. The firefighters' barbecue is renowned in the area and delivers slow-cooked Boston Butts.

Fire Chief Jerry Choat is encouraging people to order early.

"We only cook a certain amount of meat," Choat said. "When it's gone, it's gone."

The butts are priced at $35.00 each and orders can be placed with any Carrier MIlls fire fighter, at the Carrier Mills Water Office or with Chief Choat. Choat's phone number is (618) 926-1972.

Additionally, the Carrier Mills Fire Department is selling tickets for a raffle of a Henry Repeating Arms rifle. The rifle is a Fire Fighters Edition in .22 caliber. The metal work of the rifle is engraved with scenes of fire fighters in action and the winning ticket will be drawn during the Springfest celebration in the last week of May. Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20, and may be purchased from any Carrier Mills fire fighter or at the village water office. The winner must present a valid FOID card to receive the rifle.
