Nancy Jane Henson Stone

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nancy Jane Henson Stone went to her heavenly home at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Galatia.

She was born in West Frankfort on Dec. 26, 1911, to Emma Osteen and N.J. Henson (former mayor).

She graduated from West Frankfort High School and attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. In 1935, she married Ivan Stone. They resided in West Frankfort, where she and her husband were associated with the Stone Funeral Home on Oak Street and its present location on Poplar Street. Her family and friends remember her inner strength, gentle nature and calming influence that greatly affected their lives.

Above all, Nancy Stone was a loving, generous person constantly available to care, love and teach her children and family.

She was predeceased in December 1995 by her husband, Ivan L. Stone, after celebrating their 60th anniversary; her son, Michael L. Stone; her sister, Edna Henson Berryhill of Decatur; and four brothers, Burnell Henson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Glen Henson of Galatia, Rex Henson of West Frankfort and Colonel Jerry Henson of Waco, Texas.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and John Jackson of Galatia, Nancy and Tom Greenawalt of Decatur and Barbara and John Snell of Decatur; plus 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Sue Henson Kelley of Bargersville, Ind.

The family extends a special thanks to the caring staff and owner of Finnie's Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia.

A celebration of her life will be held at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009, with the Rev. Bud Peyton officiating. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. Interment will be in Old Brushy Cemetery located west of Harco.
