John F. Brown

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mr. John F. Brown, 84, of Eldorado, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Resurrection Nursing Facility, in Alabama.

He was the widower of Julia Margarete (Wasson) Brown.

John was born in Eldorado on June 1, 1924, the son of the late Otto and Maude (Russell) Brown.

He was a member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church of Harrisburg. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He worked as a paint foreman at Southern Illinois University.

John is survived by two sons, Frank (Ruth Ann) Brown of North Carolina and Curtis L. (Bonnie) Brown of Alabama.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren, David Brown, Stephen Brown, Andrea Dalporto, John A. Brown, Marie Meyers, Julia Reinbold, Sarah Tancredi, Daniel Brown and Nicole Brown; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bessie Turrentine, Gladys Whitsell and Callie Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Friends may call noon to service time Thursday at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home.
