Charles A. Langford Sr.

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles A. Langford Sr., 78, Augusta, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, peacefully with family at the home of his daughter, Nancy Abbott.

Mr. Langford was born July 17, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Cressa Langford and wife, the former Beatrice Burroughs.

Mr. Langford served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

On Nov. 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Shirley C. Dennis in Chicago.

Mr. Langford was employed by McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing as a design engineer until retirement in 1987.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Barbara Nell and Dorothy Ann in infancy and Wanda Lee Cathcart.

Mr. Langford is survived by two daughters, Debby Volker and husband Frank, Washington, and Nancy Abbott, Washington; one son, Charles A. Langford Jr. and wife, Vicki, Marthasville; one sister, Irma Jean Hartley, Joplin; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren all of Franklin County; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Memorial service and interment with full military honors was held at Leavell Hill Cemetery in Harrisburg with the Rev. Bernie Cowgill officiating. Memorials to Alzheimer's Association are preferred. The family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington and Gaskins Funeral Home. Harrisburg.
