Children's book author to visit library this week
An children's book author from Savannah, Georgia, José Lucio, will be visiting Harrisburg for the "Burg Summer Reading Kickoff" and the "READ, White, & Blue" events at the Harrisburg Public Library on June 10 and 11.
Lucio will be presenting his book "Heave Ho!" As an illustrator, Lucio said it was important for children to be able to follow the book visually.
"Young readers will be able to follow along with the visuals of the story as they learn the text. Many of the pages have foreshadowing elements in the pictures that children love picking up on, and making inferences about," said Lucio in a press release.
The book tells the story of a "cheerful little worm" who is surprised when he is plucked up by a hungry bird after coming up out of the ground. With a little help from his friends, the little worm tries to defeat the bird. Their efforts seem useless, until one worm comes up with a new idea.
