Gladys Wallace

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gladys Wallace, 87, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Shawnee Rose Care Center in Harrisburg.

She was born on June 3, 1922, in Hardin County to the late Fred and Mamie (McCord) Ginger. On April 11, 1937, she married Esdon Oxford, and he passed away on Oct. 12, 1988. She later married Kenneth Wallace and he passed away on March 14, 1998.

Gladys was a member of the River of Life United Pentecostal Church. She was a retired nurse working at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Surviving family members include three daughters, Brenda Jackson and husband Steve of Harrisburg, Mamie Allen of Golconda and Donna Owens and husband Bill of Golconda; a son, Jerry Oxford and wife Linda of Carmi; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bobby Gentry will officiate. Burial will follow in Water Cemetery in Karbers Ridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
