</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Lorena E. Hargis, 94, Christopher, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at her residence.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with Sister Bernadine Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Benton. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the funeral home.

She was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Zeigler to the late William Ellis Chapman and Mary Ann (Greig) Chapman. She married Leslie H. Hargis, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker who attended Full Gospel Mission.

She is survived by several children, Janet Burnett of Christopher, Gary Wayne Hargis of Christopher, Brian (Sherri) Hargis of Christopher and David (Sherry) Hargis of Buckner; several grandchildren, Donald Burnett, Rodney Burnett, Darren Burnett, Rex and Sharon Burnett, Christopher Hargis, Elizabeth Hargis, Shon and Sheri Hargis, Neil Hargis, Brent Hargis and Cody Hargis; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Reginald Chapman of Marion.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
