Andrew 'Al' Hamp
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Andrew "Al" Hamp, 75, of Herod, passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
He was born on April 13, 1934, in Herod to the late Willie and Josephine (Herman) Hamp. On Feb. 23, 1957, he married Judith Ann (George) Hamp and she survives.
Al was a journeyman machinist working at Wayne Knight Construction, Ajax Engineering and Ozark Mahoning. He also did custom work with his machine shop and worked for Rister Brothers for a short time.
Al was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he had a third and fourth degree. He was a member of the Paul C. Rowan American Legion Post No. 571 in Rosiclare, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was also in the Army sewing in Korea.
Surviving family members include his wife, Judith Ann Hamp of Herod; brother, Thomas Hamp of Herod; brother-in-law, Steve George and wife Linda; niece and nephew, Nicholas George and Michelle Wallace and husband Denny; great-niece and nephew, Emma Joe Wallace, and Easton James Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Herman W. Hamp, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. Father Peter Hsu will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with a Knights of Columbus Chalice Service at 7 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family through the Obituary Page at www.reedfuneralchapel.com.
