Charles L. Braden
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles L. Braden, 83, of Charleston, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Charles was born June 1, 1926 at Galatia, son of Alfred and Martha (Pulliam) Braden. He married Isobel Keneipp, May 5, 1946, at Harrisburg; she preceded him in death May 15, 2008.
Survivors include one daughter, Carla Spicer of Charleston; one son, Stan Braden and wife Dee of Charleston; grandchildren, Meagan Braden and fiancée Luke Taylor of Charleston and Rachel Spicer and fiance Blake Spindler of Champaign; two nieces, Carroll Jennings of Alton and Tracey Hall of Harrisburg; and two nephews, Jeff Braden of Rochester and Brett Allen of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Denver Braden; and one sister, Ruth Hayes.
Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers. He attended First Baptist Church of Charleston and formerly attended First Church of God. He was a member and past worshipful master of the former Raleigh Masonic Lodge.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Raleigh Masonic Cemetery, Raleigh. A memorial service in Charleston will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in the charge of Caudill-King Funeral Home.
