Jerry Sweat

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Jerry Sweat, 72, of Benton, a former Carrier Mills resident, died 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at his home.

He was born March 10, 1937, in Saline County to Kenneth Sweat and Mary Ella Roper Sweat. He married Patricia Lloyd on Oct. 1, 1983.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills and the Elks Lodge in Benton.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Gina and Kevin Strothman of Savannah, Ga. and Gay and Rob Hammond of Benton; two stepchildren, Elizabeth and Randy Lollis of Benton and Ted Field of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Kent and Paula Sweat of Harrisburg; one sister, Rita and John Feazel of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joey Dunning will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Stan Irvin. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

The family's preferred choice of remembrance is memorials to T.I.P. Hospice or the First United Methodist Church.
