Major (Ret.) Robert G. Miley

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Major (Ret.) USAF Robert G. Miley, 88 passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009.

He attended Drake University on a football and basketball scholarship, then he went to flight school and became a pilot in the US Air Force.

He served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. Serving his country, he also did three remote tours to Japan, Alaska and Vietnam.

After retiring Major Miley enjoyed saltwater fishing with his son as well as visiting St. Andrews Marina and watching the airplanes at the airport. He was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, Robert "Bob" Miley (Jill) of Panama City Beach, Fla.; daughter, Barbara Miley Brown (Kenny) of Panama City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kendra Kizziah (Dustin), Ryan Brown (Vannessa), Robert L. Miley Jr., Morgan Miley; and three great-grandchildren, Logan and Dawson Kizziah and Benjamin Brown. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Donna M. Miley; and a brother, Harker P. Miley.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in the chapel of Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at the funeral home.
