Orval Gribble

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Orval Gribble, 96, Marion, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Fountains Nursing Home in Marion.

He was born March 9, 1913, in the Rudement community, the son of Albert and Bea Williams Gribble. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation, but was a lifelong farmer and carpenter. He married the former Dovie Blackman and she preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2001.

Orval is survived by a son, Lannie and Linda Gribble of Marion; daughter-in-law, Sally Gribble of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren, Lance and Rosie Gribble, Doug and Christy Gribble, Vance and Debbie Gribble and Curt and Mitzi Gribble; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dovie; one son, Valgene Gribble; two brothers, Rudolph and Earl Gribble; and three sisters, Bonnie Gribble, Alberta Cogdill and Geneva Wasson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Pankey officiating and burial in Spring Valley Cemetery south of Harrisburg. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
