Opal Elizabeth Mings

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Opal Elizabeth Mings, 82, rural Raleigh, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 16, 1926, the daughter of Ernest and Mallie (Karnes) Bradley. She married James E. Mings on Dec. 14, 1944, at Harrisburg.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years; her children, Sharon (Jerry) Parks of Decatur and Gary (Helen) Mings of Divernon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph, Hubert and Harold Bradley; three sisters, Bonnie Phelps, June (Bill) Villines and Dorothy Farthing; and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents; five brothers, Clifford, Wilbur, Gilbert, Ernest and Wendell; and two sisters, Lorene Davis and Cathryn Rapp, preceded her in death.

Opal was the tenth of 14 brothers and sisters.

Opal was a homemaker and worked at Sears and Roebuck in the home interior department.

She was a member of the Long Branch Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Long Branch Baptist Church with visitation from 11 a.m. to funeral hour at the church. Officiating will be Gary Mings. Burial will be in the Raleigh Masonic Cemetery.
