Leonard Duane Norris

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Leonard Duane Norris, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:50 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at the Marshall Browning Hospital at Du Quoin.

Leonard had worked for 43 years as Department Manager at Krogers. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and was a choir member for 60 years. He was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Local and was Past President. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, an avid Du Quoin Indian Fan, was Joe E. Weber Fan Of The Year and was a Pro Wrestling fan. He was also a roller skater and was one of the L's of Triple L Skating Rink. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was born Feb. 15, 1930 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Owen E. and Bertha S. (Hirsch) Norris.

He married Charlotte L. Schneider on June 27, 1953 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Brenda Craig and husband Brad of Du Quoin, one granddaughter - Jennifer Nicole Dunmyer and husband Jeremiah of Sikeston, Mo., one brother - Lester Dale Norris and wife Sharon of Murphysboro, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Lillian Zoller.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin with Rev. Rich Luh officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Friends may make memorials to the St. John's United Church of Christ or Du Quoin Booster Club and will be accepted at the funeral home.
