Robert L. Mitchell

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Robert L. Mitchell, 78, Harrisburg, died 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Saline County to Robert C. Mitchell and Velma McGuire Mitchell. He married Wallena Jo Brooks on Sept. 25, 1954, and she preceded him in death in September 2002.

He was a Korean War veteran. He was a retired Teamsters truck driver many years with Gail Denny and a retired volunteer Harrisburg firefighter.

He is survived by a daughter, Becky (Terry) Butler of Harrisburg; a son, Lee (Lisa) Mitchell of Clinton, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Candice Butler of Harrisburg and Connor Mitchell of Clinton, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Mac Mitchell; and one infant sister.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Those attending graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery. There will be no visitation on Friday. The Rev. Shawn Johnson and the Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
