</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Donald R. Kontz, 76, of Chester, IL, died February 24, 2010 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester.
The son of Robert and Clara (Runge) Kontz, he was born August 31, 1933 in Ste. Genevieve, MO.
On August 27, 1955, he married Marcella Hohgrefe in Bremen, IL.
Donald was a retired sheet metal worker. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester and was on the ushering staff at the church. He was also a life member of the VFW Post #3553 and a life member of the American Legion Alva Courier Post #487, both of Chester. He had served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of Chester, IL; three sons & daughters-in-law: Michael Kontz and Dennis & Michelle Kontz, all of Chester, IL, and David & Susie Kontz of Steeleville, IL; two grandsons; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bruce Kontz; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL, with Rev. Mark Willig and Vicar Gail Heimgartner officiating. Burial was in the Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, IL.
Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
