Verla Martin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Verla Martin, 93, of Carrier Mills, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.

She was born in New Burnside on Nov. 26, 1916, to the late William D. and Lola (Oneal) Choate. She married Cecil Martin on Nov. 29, 1934. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1990.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy Kincheloe and husband Dow of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Ashli Harris and husband John, of Buncombe and Brynn Kincheloe and wife Autumn of Salem; five great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Harris, Hannah Harris, Tiarra Kincheloe, Lilliauna Kincheloe and Bryndon Kincheloe.

In addition to her parents and husband Cecil, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Gay Hamilton and husband Clifford, Eunice Carter and husband Ralph and Edith Parks Rushing and husband Raphael.

Verla was a member of the Carrier Mills First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Harl Cockrum will officiate and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery at Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the funeral chapel.
