Opal Ann Reeder Glascock
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mrs. Opal Ann Reeder Glascock, 77, of Jacksonville, formerly of Eldorado, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Barton W. Stone Nursing Home in Jacksonville.
Opal was born in Eldorado on April 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Freeman Richard and Nola Bell (Langford) Reeder. She married Charles Elmer Glascock on Oct. 21, 1949, in Raleigh and he preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1982.
Opal was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her family and friends -- she never met a stranger.
Opal is survived by two daughters, Kina Rae Glascock-Shoemaker of Jacksonville and Phyllis Ann Lowes of Eldorado; three sons, Brian (Dani) Glascock of Jacksonville, Charles (Vickie) Glascock of Madison, Ala. and David Lee Glascock of Pontiac, Mich.; six grandchildren, Amy J. Glascock, Michael Glascock, Josh Shoemaker, Jeremy (Marissa) Lowes, Amy E. Glascock and Samantha Pinkerton; four great-grandchildren, Emily Owens, Ethan Glascock, Sierra Shoemaker and Kitah Lowes; three sisters, Thelma Barger of Eldorado, Juanita Maitzen of Chicago and Ann Spencer of Eldorado; and a brother, George "Jimmy" Washington Reeder of Eldorado.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings: Freeman Reeder Jr., Mary Ellison, Charles Reeder, Paul Reeder and Edna Hart; one great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Owens; and one great-grandson, Trance Lowes.
Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barton W. Stone Nursing Home Alzheimer's Unit in Jacksonville or The Golden Circle Friendship Center in Eldorado. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
