Obituary: Helen Ruth Sherrod

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Helen Ruth Sherrod, 83, rural Rosiclare, died 5:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at her residence.

Services will be held at noon Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Harold Miller officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.

She was born on May 17, 1928, in Carrier Mills to the late Freeman Harris and Viola (Moore) Clements. She married James Sherrod on Feb. 10, 1952, and he survives.

She worked at General Motors and at the police department in Oxford, Mich., before retiring.

She attended Honeycomb Church of God and was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was blessed with many talents and hobbies, such as cake decorating, sewing and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, James Sherrod of Rosiclare; a daughter, Dixie (Todd) Knouse of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a granddaughter, Sarah Knouse of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, Robert Clements.
