Obituary: Dixie Lee Carrigan

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dixie Lee Carrigan, 74, of Carrier Mills, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.

Dixie was born on Nov. 29, 1937, in Harrisburg to the late Dave and Verba (Manley) Bush. On Jan. 9, 1953, she married Bobby J. Carrigan, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2011.

Dixie was a glove inspector at Nationwide Glove Company in Harrisburg for 38 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post No. 364 in Carrier Mills. She was also a member of UFCW Local No. 881 and held the position of shop steward.

Surviving family members include two sons, Jim Carrigan and wife Debbie of Carrier Mills and Chris Carrigan and wife Karla of Carrier Mills; three sisters, Carmen Lightfoot of Indianapolis, Ind., Jessie Hill of Harrisburg and Joanne Gibbs of Carrier Mills; grandchildren, Misty Fulkerson and husband Jeremy, Brittany Wix and husband Daniel, Sydney Hollaway and wife Jaime, Courtney Riggs and husband Jason, Bobbi Carrigan and Kane Carrigan; great-grandchildren, Lexee, Hayden, Ryli, Luke, Ashlyn, Hailey and Liam Patrick; two special nieces, Terry Clark and Charlene Ferrell; and a special nephew, Carl "Bud" Lewallen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Rollie D. Bailey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Leroy Hicks will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
