Obituary: Dallas C. Bailey

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Dallas C. Bailey, 65, of Herod, formerly of Eldorado, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

He was born in Akron, Ohio, on Feb. 17, 1946. He was a veteran of the Army and moved to the Eldorado area in 1979.

He owned and operated the Neal Motel in Eldorado for 30 years. He was a member of the beautification committee of Eldorado and was instrumental in getting the BOUNCE program started. He served on the Eldorado City Council from 1983 to 1987. He loved Corvettes and was a member of the River to River Corvette club. He was a recipient of the citizen of the year award in 1981 awarded by the Eldorado Chamber of Commerce. He worked with the Eldorado Garden Study Club on the wildflower project.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 45 years, Joyce; daughter, Michelle (Greg) Oliver of St. Louis, Mo.; love of his life, grandson Clayton; his mother, Peggy Bailey of Akron, Ohio; a sister, Loretta (Paul) Akins of Akron, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Bailey; and a beloved aunt, Olaf Taylor.

Visitation for Dallas will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the Watson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday in Akron, Ohio, and entombment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and can be left at the funeral home.
