Obituary: Nolan T. Gill
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Nolan T. Gill, 81, of Shawneetown, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1930, to Victor T. and Gradie (Hobbs) Martin. He was adopted at the age of 2 by a loving couple, the Rev. John F. and Betty (Ferguson) Gill. Nolan married Wanda Frields on Oct. 12, 1950.
He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Nolan was retired from manager of Farm Bureau of Gallatin and Saline County; after retirement he worked for the Harrisburg Daily Register. He also was the greeter at Gillo's Pizza and was famous for his joke telling. Nolan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Gill of Shawneetown; one son, Rick and Ladonna Gill of Shawneetown; two grandsons, Dante Gill of Evansville, Ind. and Josh Gill of Shawneetown; one granddaughter, Katie and Chris Robinson of Sturgis, Ky.; four great-grandchildren, McKayla, Maggie Mae and Makenna Robinson and Eliana Gill; two sisters, Lucille Logan of Carmi and Vena Faye Henry of Rosiclare.
Nolan is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Lee Gill; one infant daughter; two brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation for Nolan will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, with Pastor Jack Hall officiating. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery with military rites by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596.
