Obituary: Eugene Cook

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Eugene Cook, 84, of 2907 N. Main St., Eldorado, died Thursday May 24, 2012, at his residence.

He was born in Hamilton County, on Sept. 14, 1927, to the late Leland and Ethel (Campbell) Cook. He worked as an operating engineer. He was an Army Infantry veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict where he was wounded twice and received two Purple Heart awards. He was a Protestant by faith and a member of the Eldorado American Legion Post No. 169 and Eldorado VFW Post No. 3479 and a member of the Operating Engineers Local 318.

On Jan. 25, 1952, he married Thelma Unthank and she survives in Eldorado. Also surviving are one daughter, Mike and Debbie McRoy of Eldorado; one grandchild, Ashley McRoy-Rash of Eldorado; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Omohundro and Avery Rash.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Cook; and a sister, Anna Lee Brockett.

He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the Watson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Weaver and the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from noon to service time on Sunday, May 27, 2012, until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice or College Heights Baptist Church and can be left at the funeral home.
