OBITUARY: William L. ‘Leroy' Capeheart
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William L. "Leroy" Capeheart, 77, of the Saline Mines Community in Shawneetown died Sunday, July 8, 2012, in the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Leroy, as most knew him, was born near Shawneetown on February 3, 1935, one of 13 children to Joseph Sr. and Mary (Dorsey) Capeheart. On December 16, 1956, he was married to Shirley (Leonberger) Capeheart.
Leroy was a hard worker all of his life. He worked for over 26 years at the Scherrer Equipment in Ridgway and had been running heavy equipment for Logsdon Farms. He was a trustee on the Bowlesville Township Board. Leroy loved the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing or gardening. He really enjoyed working on the farm and will always be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
Leroy is survived by his wife Shirley of Shawneetown; two daughters, Gathy (Keith) Riley of Ridgway and Sheila (Tobias) Odom of Owensville, Ind. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Valerie (Peter) Halstead, Diedre (Aaron) Blythe, Levi and Lucas Odom and one great-granddaughter, Emma Blythe. He is also survived by two sisters, Louise Vaughn of Omaha and Nellie (Tony) Holbrook of Ridgway. He was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Visitation for Leroy will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the funeral home. The Rev. Jesse Potts will officiate and interment will follow in Hogan Cemetery.
