OBITUARY: Charles Marshall Stricklin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles Marshall Stricklin, age 97 of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2012, at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado.

Charles was born in Harrisburg, on February 27, 1915, to the late Marshall and Rosa (Dunnaway) Stricklin. Charles married Mabel Louise Aldridge in 1936 and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2002. Charles was a retired coal miner, and a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of Dorrisville Social Brethren Church, the Odd Fellows, Rebekah Lodge and the Harrisburg American Legion.

Charles is survived by daughter JoAnn Dalton and husband Lewis Jr. of Harrisburg; son James A. Stricklin and wife Shirley of Sullivan, Ind.; daughter Sue Mackin and husband Clifford of Oak Harbor, Wash.; four grandchildren, Cathy Hemmerich and husband Wayne of Winston Salem, N.C., Beth Harris of Herrin, Andy Stricklin and wife Susan of Dayton, Ohio, and Glen Stricklin and wife Samantha of Sullivan, Ind., and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Chris Winkleman will officiate, and burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice or the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
