GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lady Warriors advance to Regional final

The Lady Warriors advanced into Wednesday's Regional championship game in Du Quoin with Tuesday's semifinal win over Sparta, 48-29, getting 16 points from Bailey Harsy and 14 from Chloe Prather in the victory.

Harsy had 10 points in the first half, helping Du Quoin Middle School jump out to a 24-11 lead after two periods of play.

Prather got the second half started for the Lady Warriors, scoring on a put-back then on layup off of a steal by Harsy, giving DMS a 28-11 advantage.

Sparta would get no closer than 14 points down the rest of the night.

Braylee Watson chipped in with 8 points for Du Quoin, Emily Green and Elizabeth Bird each had 4 points, and Chloe Hess finished with 2.

Carbondale won the first semifinal game of the night against Murphysboro, 28-27, and will be the Lady Warriors' opponent in Wednesday night's Regional championship matchup in Du Quoin at 6 p.m. The winner advances on to the Class L State final four beginning on January 23.
