Obituary: Evelyn Jean Allyn

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Evelyn Jean Allyn, 86, died peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2012, in the Mt. Vernon (Indiana) Nursing Home.

Evelyn was born in Shawneetown on Dec. 14, 1925, to the late Charles and Jessie (Green) Roark. On May 31, 1942, she married the love of her life, Fred Allyn who preceded her in death in 2001.

Evelyn was a member of the Presbyterian church in New Haven, was always very active in the school at New Haven, was past president of the PTA, loved basketball, but her two favorite things was visiting with her friends and most importantly her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, good mother, grandmother, and will be missed.

She is survived by two sons, Bob (Melanie) Allyn of Carmi and C.H. (LeAnn) Allyn of Carmi; and one daughter, Freddie Jean (Gary) King of Mt. Vernon, Ind. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amy (Richard) Weekly, Michael (Alisa) King, Steven (Angie) King, Bobby Allyn and Zach Allyn; two stepgrandchildren, Jason Organ and Sara (Gabe) Brame; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother and a half-brother.

Visitation for Evelyn will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the funeral home. The Rev. Mike Buckman will officiate and interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery.
