Guenther on board for 2 more years, will lead Hall renovation

Rewarded with a two-year contract extension and a pay raise, Illinois athletic director Ron Guenther will now get busy on renovating Assembly Hall, said university chancellor Richard Herman.

Guenther will be paid $600,000 per year through Jan. 1, 2011, after receiving a $75,000 raise. He will earn a $100,000 lump-sum payment if he completes the contract. His previous contract was set to expire Dec. 31.
