Bob, as he liked to be called, was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Chicago. His parents were Rufus Guy Reynolds of Johnston City and Edith Scott Reynolds of Harrisburg. He grew up in Harrisburg, leading what he called "a regular boy's Midwestern life," working in his uncle's lumberyard and playing defensive tackle on one of Harrisburg's championship football teams. He graduated from Harrisburg Township High School in 1950.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the era of the Korean War but stationed with World War II occupation troops in Italy. He married Mary Elizabeth Johns of Orlando, Fla., in 1953. They began their life together in Naples, Italy.

In 1959 Bob graduated from Clemson University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was retrained as an instrument engineer by Babcock and Wilcox Co., for whom he built generating plants, paper mills and cement plants from the Northeast to Key West, Fla.

Later Bob and Mary purchased Big Lynn Lodge in Little Switzerland, N.C. They operated the lodge for 14 years, raising their three children in the mountains, away from the big cities where Bob had worked as an engineer. When their youngest child left for college, they sold the lodge and climbed into a motor home to roam the USA for three years. Then they went to Tulsa, Okla., to attend a two-year Bible School. They stayed in Tulsa for 20 years.

They moved to Louisville, Ga., after Mary inherited a home and farm in the area. In Louisville, Bob developed strong friendships, especially among the volunteers at Bartow Community Center, sponsor of the Schoolhouse Players. He had many happy days building sets and helping the theater in other ways.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mary of Louisville, Ga.; his son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Colleen Reynolds of Asheville, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Bruce Drechsler of Tulsa, Okla.; and daughter, Janet, also of Tulsa. He has three granddaughters, Jennifer Morris, Carolyn Adickes and Kristen Drechsler; and one great-grandson, Cole Morris. Other survivors are his cousins, Alice Barnes, Lynda and David Clemmons of Harrisburg and Bea and Bob Luce of Riverside, Conn.; and his lifelong friend, George Henley of Harrisburg.

Bob was a member of Saint Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church where he served as treasurer until his health failed. Memorials may be made to the church, P.O. Box 2, Louisville, Ga. 30434 or to Arts Guild of Jefferson Co., at Queensborough Bank and Trust in Louisville.
