<p class="MsoNormal">April 17, New York 10, Cleveland 3: At Yankee Stadium, New York scored eight runs off Jake Westbrook in 1 2/3 innings, and left-hander Chase Wright won his big-league debut. A second-inning home run by No. 9 batter Doug Mientkiewicz and Bobby Abreu's RBI single were followed by two-run homers from Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada, four days after Westbrook had signed a three-year, $33-million contract extension.

<p class="MsoNormal">April 18, New York 9, Cleveland 2: At Yankee Stadium, Jeremy Sowers was knocked out in the third inning after giving up six runs. The Yankees batted around in the inning. Relievers Tom Mastny and Aaron Fultz served up home runs to Rodriguez and Jason Giambi. Kei Igawa limited the Indians to two runs over six innings.

<p class="MsoNormal">April 19, New York 8, Cleveland 6: At Yankee Stadium, New York scored six runs off Joe Borowski in the ninth inning -- all with two out -- to sweep the series. Josh Phelps' home run and two RBI singles were followed by Alex Rodriguez's game-winning three-run homer. Victor Martinez's three-run home run had broken a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning.

<p class="MsoNormal">Aug. 10, New York 6, Cleveland 1: At Jacobs Field, rookie pitchers Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain shut down the Indians offense. Rodriguez hit a solo homer off Fausto Carmona and Josh Barfield homered for Cleveland.

<p class="MsoNormal">Aug. 11, New York 11, Cleveland 2: At Jacobs Field, the Yankees scored seven runs off Paul Byrd in the second inning. Abreu's two-out, two-run single to left in the second inning was sandwiched between Johnny Damon's two-run double and Rodriguez's two-run homer. Rodriguez also belted a two-run homer off Edward Mujica in the seventh.

<p class="MsoNormal">Aug. 12, New York 5, Cleveland 3: At Jacobs Field, Andy Pettitte shut out the Indians for six innings as the Yankees completed the series sweep. The Indians loaded the bases in the eighth, but Mariano Rivera got Jhonny Peralta to tap into an inning-ending force out. Three consecutive hits off Rivera in the ninth were followed by three consecutive outs.
