Former Michigan State football player accused of throwing neighbor off balcony needs more examinations

A DuPage County judge Friday ordered a 28-year-old Lombard man accused of throwing his neighbor from the third-floor balcony of their apartment building to undergo a second round of psychological evaluations.

Hubert Thompson, a former Proviso West High School football star who also played at Michigan State University, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the March 30 death of 66-year-old James Malone, who landed in the first-floor lobby of the building at Finley Road and Ann Street.
