Box Office: Mr. Peabody & Sherman Tops Need for Speed

New release Need for Speed didn't have enough momentum to carry it to the top of the box office chart this weekend. The action flick was topped by animated film Mr. Peabody & Sherman , which earned $21.1 million in its second week, and 300: Rise of an Empire , which earned $19.1 million in its second week, Box Office Mojo reports.

Need for Speed landed in third place with $17.8 million, while Non-Stop dropped a spot to No. 4 with $10.6 million.

Veronica Mars : Where are they now?

At No. 5 was Tyler Perry's latest offering, The Single Moms Club , which took in $8.3 million in its first weekend.

The LEGO Movie and Son of God each fell two spots, coming in sixth and seventh with $7.7 million and $5.4 million, respectively.

Though still in limited release, The Grand Budapest Hotel earned $3.6 million and jumped from No. 17 to No. 8. In ninth place was Frozen with $2.1 million.

The Veronica Mars movie debuted at No. 10 with just over $2 million.
