Obituary: Thomas J. Griffith Sr.

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Thomas J. Griffith Sr., 61, Galatia, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Roy Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Bankston Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1949, in Harrisburg to the late Andrew and Edith (Reynolds) Griffith. He married LaVone "Sue" Burchell on Oct. 22, 1966, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1988.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Griffith of Marion; a son, Tom (Rita) Griffith Jr. of Harrisburg; a partner, Carol Grider of Galatia; five sisters, Doris Stone of Harrisburg, Ann Tedford of Eldorado, Nellie Pritchett of Marion, Judy Talandis and Barbara Hurd, both of Carrier Mills; seven grandchildren, Troy, Dustin, Casey, Keelan, Tommy, Austin and Jordie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and a sister, Ruby Auten.
