Obituary: Shirley Ann Hamp Rose

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shirley Ann Hamp Rose, 75, of Harrisburg, went to be with her Lord at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. She was at home surrounded by her family, she passed away after a brief battle with cancer.

Shirley was born on Mother&#39;s Day, May 10, 1936, the only child of the late Carl David Hamp and Gypsie (Crabb) Hamp of Herod.

On July 23, 1955, she was married to Wiley Thomas (Tom) Rose who survives. Shirley was a career banker, retiring in 1996 after 41 years of service to the First National Bank/Old National Bank of Harrisburg. At the time of her retirement she was senior vice president.

Shirley enjoyed 15 years of retirement, traveling, reading and spending time with family. She and Tom attended First Baptist Church of Harrisburg.

Shirley is also survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Vickie Ann Rose and former mayor Valerie Rose Mitchell and her husband Tim. Five grandchildren also mourn her passing, Karl Brenden Cossey and wife Lisa, Krystle Rose Sands, Kurt Thomas Sands, William George Arik Woolard and Sarah Roseann Woolard, along with one great-grandchild, Anna Madeline Cossey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, it was Shirley&#39;s request that donations be made to the Harrisburg Public Library.
